Bach's Mass in B minor is widely regarded as one of the supreme achievements of classical music. It was described in the 19th century by the editor Hans Georg Nägeli as "The Announcement of the Greatest Musical Work of All Times and All People"
However this work is described, its lively, uplifting passages contrast with some slow, emotional movements to place it among Bach's most popular choral works.
